ABOUT
With Sing the Positions Ioannis Mandafounis and Manon Parent offer a unique fusion of a dance piece and a concert in the purest and simplest form. Utilizing the tools that they have accumulated over the years as improvisers, movers, and musicians, they imbue the stage with their greatest dancing abilities, combined with songs and sonic textures created live onstage to fit each new scenario that arises within the show.
Traveling through diverse sonic landscapes from classical opera to experimental music, they play like children for their own pleasure and that of the audience. Their mantra, “The ocean: I’m coming” carries them through the piece. Their sole intention while dancing is to go forward, keeping in mind that it might be the last time they are on stage.
Sing the Positions is a veritable “show” in every sense of the term. The artists merge with one another and their surroundings, blending contradictory musical elements and emotions, moving beyond meaning, concepts and structures.
Embracing every situation they encounter, acceptance and the sharing of simplicity is what counts.
